“Do you hear that?
“Chad asked his wife, Janet. “Yes,” she said. “That’s the call of the Pileated woodpecker. It’s usually found in preserved, natural settings like this and prefers lowland areas and large, knotted trees for nestling.”
It was the first of many wonderful and rare “calls” that attracted Chad and Janet Fogle to Celadon — a new community located on a beautiful expanse of land on Lady’s Island, just a stone’s throw from the romantic coastal town of Beaufort, South Carolina.
In the fall of 2014, the Fogles embarked on an extensive tour of master-planned communities in the lowland areas of South Carolina. Chad is a retired dentist, as well as an “advance-degreed” zoologist. Janet is a retired music educator. Both hail from the Ohio area and their dream was to find a magical beachfront town in which to relocate. After much searching, they eventually settled on a lovely wooded lot, facing a lagoon, in the tree-filled community of Celadon. It is here that they will build their custom-designed Lowcountry home.
“Celadon is the ideal community in which we wish to reside in the SC Lowcountry. It just feels like home.” – Chad and Janet Fogle
Celadon is ideally situated along the southern end of the South Carolina coast that comprises the picturesque Sea Islands. The area is known for its warm climate and gentle sea breezes that deliver pleasing year-round weather. The community is just three miles from the charm, romance, and history of beautiful downtown Beaufort — a fairy tale harbor town, if ever there was one. It is also less congested and populated than many communities in this region. As Chad and Janet have said, “It’s a delightfully tranquil and rewarding setting to enjoy quality living.”
The Fogles have always had an affinity for beautiful natural settings. “We both grew up experiencing and respecting nature,” Chad says. “And we still do. We truly value the fact that Celadon permits us to live an active outdoor life in a beautiful setting. There are freshwater ponds for fishing, countless live oaks draped in Spanish moss, several parks for nature-watching, and lots of natural green space that we can enjoy during the spring, summer, fall, and even winter. Janet and I appreciate the availability of
Celadon Club Wellness Center
, which offers a gym, fitness classes, pool, and spa — all just steps from our new home. It enables us to maintain an active, healthy lifestyle. For us, it’s the ideal, most desirable community to experience a rewarding, more fulfilling lifestyle.”
