come take a
discovery visit
A DISCOVERY VISIT IS…
Beaufort is a small town loved and lauded by many – Southern Living and Coastal Living both frequently mention Beaufort as the standard to which all Southern towns aspire to; National Geographic considers Beaufort to be one of America’s Top 50 Adventure Towns; even Garden and Gun became so enamored with the small town charm that Beaufort is featured first on their list of “Southern Dream Towns.”
Yet even with all of these accolades and recommendations, we know you need to experience it for yourself. A Celadon Discovery Visit is the perfect way to immerse yourself in the daily life of the Lowcountry, and get to know Beaufort and Celadon as your potential new home.
WHERE YOU’LL STAY
For the three days and two nights of your trip, you’ll stay at your choice of three of our favorite spots in town:
The historic and famous Rhett House Inn, an award-winning local Bed and Breakfast, is a uniquely Beaufortonian establishment, located inside a restored antebellum mansion. The Rhett House has hosted movie stars such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock, Robert Redford and Barbra Streisand, who visited our little hometown while filming the movies we’ve all come to love, such as The Prince of Tides, Forrest Gump, The Big Chill, and The Great Santini.
You’ll receive a champagne welcome, homemade dessert each evening, and a hearty Southern breakfast each morning, prepared by Beaufort’s own Chef Beverly. Freshly baked cookies are available throughout the day, along with ice-cold lemonade and sweet tea – perfect for after a game of bocce ball, croquet, or badminton, all of which are found on the Rhett House grounds.
The Cuthbert House Inn, located in another gorgeous antebellum mansion, is a blend of the amenities you expect from a boutique hotel and the personalized service you receive from a bed and breakfast. Originally built over 200 years ago to serve as a summer refuge for wealthy plantation owners, the Cuthbert House Inn was thoughtfully placed to take advantage of Beaufort’s pleasant coastal breezes. As such, you’ll be able to enjoy the spectacular views of Beaufort Bay from both private verandas and formal Charleston-style gardens.
Your day will begin with a homemade Southern breakfast each morning, with both sweet and savory options available, including the house favorite – orange pancakes with Grand Marnier sauce. Freshly-brewed coffee is available throughout the day, and at sunset tasty homemade hors d’oeuvres and other refreshments are served.
City Loft Hotel is located in Historic Downtown Beaufort, but blends the Old South traditions of hospitality with a sophisticated urban style. City Loft focuses on modern luxury amenities – ipod-lamps, memory-foam beds, flat-screen televisions (in both bedroom and bathroom), and bathrooms stocked with BeeKind luxury products, soaking tubs, and artisan-tiled walk-in showers, complete with four-zone rain-simulator shower heads.
With a newsstand and coffee shop downstairs to compliment dedicated work stations in each room, City Loft Hotel has proven itself to be one of the best in class for business travelers. City Loft is also making quite the name for itself as Beaufort’s first upscale boutique hotel, winning national awards almost every year since 2012. Most recently, Trip Advisor selected this hotel to be #15 on their 2016 list of America’s Top 25 Small Hotels.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
First and foremost, you’ll explore Beaufort! The Rhett House, Cuthbert House, and City Loft Hotel are each steps away from everything downtown (or a quick spin, if you choose to borrow one of the beach cruiser bicycles available to you from the Rhett House or the Cuthbert House). You can stroll to restaurants, boutique shops, and local art galleries, or enjoy a guided tour of the South’s most impressive historic neighborhoods.
If you’d prefer to get on the water, we can help you book a sunset wine cruise, fishing expedition, or kayak rental for an outdoor adventure!
Explore the pristine coastline found at Hunting Island State Park, one of the few maritime forest beaches in the America. Take in incredible sunrises and sunsets, meander walking trails, or check out the historic lighthouse open daily for tours. This beach is a mere 30-minute drive from Celadon, and was recently awarded second place in USA Today’s list of Top East Coast Beaches.
Perfect your swing at one of the many terrific golf courses in the area. Traditions has spectacular views. Sanctuary boasts a 20 lane driving range, And Lady’s Island Country Club features a full-service restaurant to replenish you after a day on the links.
If you like to mix education into your vacation, Beaufort’s got you covered, with several local museums, such as the Verdier House – located in one of few mansions that survived the South’s occupation by the Union armies during the Civil War. This museum is open Monday-Saturday from 10:30am-3:30pm, and guided tours are available by appointment. Another must-see is nearby Bluffton’s Rose Hill Mansion. While advance reservations are required, this 1858 Gothic Revival-style private home gives tours Monday-Friday and hosts many events for local organizations.
Our walkable community is focused on a simplified lifestyle, appreciated at a laid-back, Southern pace. Each home is within an easy stroll of Celadon Square – a quaint commercial area that includes the post office, offices and retail, and a Montessori school.
We’ll take you around our state-of-the-art Celadon Club, which isn’t just an amazing fitness facility, but also a social gathering place where events are regularly held both for and by our homeowners. You’ll meet residents spending time with their families at our junior-Olympic sized pool, tennis and bocce courts, and the Members Lounge.
